BORDERLAND SAMPLER QUILT
Can’t get enough women’s history; still have reproduction
fabrics you’d like to see in a historical reproduction
quilt? Then the Borderland Sampler may be just what you have
been waiting for.
This 11-month class will explore the Civil
War era conflict along the Kansa/Missouri border and the role
of women as they struggled to survive the hardships of this
controversy. The blocks in this quilt, designed by quilt historian
Barbara Brackman, are a tribute to the unique lives of these
valiant women: runaway slaves, widows, abolitionists, rebels,
refugees, children, and even female soldiers.
At each class you will learn the history behind each block,
discuss quick-piecing tips, and receive a ‘bonus’ block
for a second quilt.
Instructor: Laura Nagel
Time: 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Dates: 3rd Thursday January – November; except in
October we will meet on the 22nd
The book Borderland in Butternut & Blue is required
for class.
Fabric suggestions will be available, and starter kits upon
request.
